Thomasville has been called “America’s quail-hunting capital.” And for good reason. It’s a Thomasville tradition!

Looking to join the hunt? There are a number of places in the area that offer visitors a chance to take part in this important part of our history. Sinkola Plantation in Thomasville, which takes pride in the experience of its crew, offers guided hunts to those seeking the bobwhite quail. Try your shooting luck at Georgia Pines Quail Hunts in Cairo, or head on out to Southwind Plantation in Attapulgus for a chance to hunt quail, dove, duck, turkey, or deer.

Live Oak Plantation in Adel gives you a chance to hunt not just for quail but also turkey, deer, and pheasant. Rio Piedra Plantation in Camilla is a 3-time recipient of the Lodge of the Year Award from Orvis Wingshooting.

Be sure to check with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to get your license and learn about quotas and dates.

And if you would prefer to hunt quail with just your eyes in downtown Thomasville, you can! Stop by the Thomasville Visitors Center and pick up a map that will help you Hunt the Lost Quail. There are 18 sculpted bronze quails hiding in plain sight throughout downtown Thomasville. You can help celebrate this important part of our city’s heritage by finding them all. It’s a challenge for all ages!
